Patrons Who Are Blind or Have Low Vision

Audio Description

Audio Description is available for selected performances for patrons who have vision loss. Describers provide a live, objective, descriptive delivery of the visual elements of a performance in between the dialogue and/or music via a small FM receiver. Please make reservations for this service at the time you purchase your ticket through the box office.

Kentucky Performing Arts offers Audio Description upon request. Requests to audio describe non-designated events must be received at least two weeks prior to the event by the Access Office. These requests are subject to the availability of a Describer.

If you cannot attend a scheduled audio described performance please call or the Access Services Hotline 502-566-5111 (V) or email Access Services to request the service for another performance. Kentucky Performing Arts will work to accommodate access requests whenever possible.

Indoor Explorer

Indoor Explorer

The Kentucky Center offers people who are blind or who have low vision the Indoor Explorer IOS app. It is a new, exciting feature of the original Nearby Explorer iOS app which can be downloaded to your device at no cost. Indoor Explorer helps you navigate within the Kentucky Center — it allows you to independently learn about the location of entrances, rooms, elevators, restrooms, and more and then navigate to those locations. Due to the recent fire the Indoor Explorer app is currently unavailable.
