The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Based on the classic novel by Victor Hugo, with music by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Enchanted, Pocahontas), The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the compelling story of Quasimodo, the deformed bell ringer raised by his uncle, Archdeacon Claude Frollo, in the cathedral bell tower of Notre Dame. Both are captivated by the beautiful gypsy girl named Esmeralda, but Frollo’s obsession takes a dark turn. All Paris calls Quasimodo a monster, but Frollo’s lust and genocidal mission to rid France of all Romani people begs the question, “What makes a monster and what makes a man?”
